LeadingAge Nebraska Nurse Leadership Academy - 2023/2024

Nurse Leadership Academy logo

The LeadingAge Nebraska Nurse Leadership Academy is designed for nurses that are new to the field of long-term care or new to nurse leadership. Nurse leaders are in high demand and often enter leadership positions without direct knowledge of all the complexities of these positions. There are a number of skills that leaders in these positions need to know and understand when stepping into these roles. The purpose of the Nurse Leadership Academy is to provide global training on a variety of skills and information that allow nurses to take on and continue in these positions with confidence and the ability to meet the needs of their community.

Through the Nurse Leadership Academy, nurses will be provided with a network of colleagues and professional support across the state that will be able to provide mentorship and ongoing support throughout their career. The Academy will combine formal instruction with team building, mentoring and ongoing support for future success. Candidates will meet on a monthly basis, online and in-person, over an eight-month period. Candidates will learn from industry leaders with extensive experience in long-term care and those with specific knowledge that will improve the skills, knowledge and abilities of nurse leaders.

Description of the program:  The Nurse Leadership Academy takes place over eight months and requires an extensive commitment on the part of the facility and the candidate. The candidate will receive a minimum of 25 continuing education credits for participating in this program. The candidate will also receive half price registration for any LeadingAge Nebraska education events during the course of the Academy, including the Fall Symposium and the Spring Annual Conference. Candidates will be recognized for their achievement at the Annual Conference on March 13, 2024 in Kearney, Nebraska.
