Join Dr. Pamela Scarborough for her newest presentation, "Wound Champions in the Post-Acute Care Setting." Attend this program to update your wound prevention and management knowledge and skills. This seminar will discuss pressure injury risk factors, prevention strategies, and other hard-to-heal wound etiologies such as arterial and venous insufficiency, diabetic foot ulcers, and more. Content includes Best Practice and regulatory guidelines for the wound assessment, documentation, treatment, and reporting mandates from CMS in addition to a session on infection control in wound care.

AGENDA:

  • 8:00 registration
  • 8:30 - 10:00 am Identify patient/resident risk factors beyond the Braden, that may lead to pressure injury development; Describe pressure injury prevention strategies
  • 10:00 am break
  • 10:15 - 11:45 pm Recognize assessment, documentation, and reporting parameters that meet best clinical practices and CMS guidelines; Classify common wound etiologies leading to chronic, hard-to-heal wounds.
  • 11:45 - 12:30 pm lunch/vendors visit
  • 12:30 - 2:15 pm Describe treatment interventions that meet best clinical practice and regulatory guidelines; Describe wound infection prevention and control practices
  • 2:15 pm break
  • 2:30-4:00 Participate in hands-on skills lab; Question and answer session.

FACULTY: Dr. Pamela Scarborough, PT, DPT, MS, CWS, FAAWC, is currently the Vice President of Clinical Affairs for RestorixHealth. Her career spans over 40 years having practiced across the continuum of care. Dr. Scarborough is board certified as a wound specialist (CWS) and is a prolific author having been published in various wound management books, monographs and periodicals. In addition, she currently mentors, trains and educates others in the specialty of wound management. She has served on multiple wound related boards and conference planning committees and presents nationally and internationally. Dr. Scarborough’s license is in physical therapy and has the privilege of providing education for many health care professionals across licensure and clinical focus from CNAs to physicians, nurses, and surveyors and others in this highly specialized area of practice, wound prevention and management.RestorixHealth logo

 

 

 

AUDIENCE: This program is appropriate for new and seasoned treatment nurses, facility or corporate wound management leadership, MDS Coordinators, PT/OT, providers, and others involved in wound prevention and management in the post-acute LTC setting.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: 6.25 hours of continuing education from Nebraska DHHS Regulation and Licensure, Board of NHA has been approved for this event. Appropriate records will be maintained for other disciplines to receive credit from their credentialing organizations. 6.25 nursing contact hours for all nurses, provided by IWCC, Iowa’s Board of Nursing Provider #6.
